ServicesFrom routine cleanings and fillings to restoring dental implants, Bircher Family Dental Care is equipped to handle the dental needs of your entire family. To help you understand your options, we've included descriptions of some of our leading services on this page.
Initial Oral Examination Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth. Currently, one of the most popular procedures is an at-home bleaching technique. This procedure requires a dental visit, where you'll be fitted for a customized bleaching tray. You'll also receive the whitening gel that's best for you, as well as thorough instructions for getting the best results from your at-home whitening system. Usually, you'll apply the gel to your customized tray, and wear it for one hour a day for a week or two; tobacco stains may take longer to bleach. Crowns and Veneers You can have a new smile with all-porcelain crowns on the anterior teeth. For the posterior, we use porcelain fused to metal. Resin: Tooth-colored fillings that are light-cured to match your teeth. Amalgam: Silver-colored fillings. We perform root canals on anterior, premolar and molar teeth. You should have a standard cleaning (dental prophylaxis) at least twice a year. If it has been over a year since your last cleaning, possible treatment will include either Periodontal Scaling (deeper) or Root Planning and Scaling (requires anesthetic). Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will help reduce symptoms of TMJ. We custom make mouth guards in both soft and hard materials. For missing teeth, we can make dentures or removable partials for you.
We offer our services to individuals of all ages and recommend age three for a child's first oral check-up. Our office will recommend an oral check-up schedule to keep your mouth in excellent health. At the time of these appointments we will perform a thorough examination of your teeth and all of the surrounding tissues, including examination for oral cancer, cavity detection, simple periodontal screening and necessary x-ray films, cleaning, and flouride treatments as recommended.
